I set the wayback machine to way way back and found this picture that I took in high school. That's the corner of Bloor and Yonge streets in Toronto, looking north, sometime in the late middle 1980s. Or maybe it was Bay Street. I think I used this as part of a grade 12 art class project. Probably Tri-X and Ilford Multigrade II, probably November.

My first glimpse of the ocean that wasn't from an airplane window, somewhere between Limon and Tortuguero, Costa Rica. February 1993 I think.

Tonight was even colder in spite of the hot chocolate I got on the way down, so after i took this I went home.

I hadn't been to the secret beach for a while so I went tonight. The camera is propped pointing moonwards in the branches of the rime covered bush and the self timer is triggered and hopefully the camera doesn't slip and the photographer gets out of the way. The last photo was an accident but I like it.

Photo Friday's theme of the week is 'Best of 2003'. I can do that. I don't know if this is actually the best of the year (I took almost 5,000 pictures just on digital, and it's hard to decide), but it's my favourite since I started photo blogging in October.

A couple of years ago we had a plague of aphids across the city that was so thick you could hardly breathe. Soon after we had a plague of ladybugs that had grown fat feasting on them. I'm posting the picture now because it's grey outside and I'm not into taking pictures today (I'm not hung over, I'm just sore from running yesterday, really). Happy new year.

Yes, I found my mini tripod. These are the community Christmas trees in the local park, and the Leuty lifeguard station all tarted up for the holidays. The bottom photo was taken from a picnic bench that merry pranksters had partially submerged in the lake, and thoughtfully covered with gravel to prevent slipping.

Actually that should be "she", because this was taken in Latvia (on or about the other solstice) where the sun god is a goddess, Saule. Happy sun-come-back day.

Happy tree day of your choice, the Sun died at 2:04 on Monday morning local time but he usually comes back 3 days later. In the mean time, watch for badgers.

In keeping with one of this week's minor themes, I know whose snake that must be, and I remember taking the picture, but I don't remember why it was there. Come to think of it, I don't remember why I was there either.

On the old pblog I'd started posting an old summer picture a day until winter is over, and I think I'll start doing that again. This must have been summer 1995.

I just squeaked by last month, and I used up this month's bandwidth at my old site after 2 1/2 weeks and they pulled the plug until new year's. That's OK, I gots a Pbase.com account now, so I can move in here. Since it's still a little sparse, why not check out my 26things galleries?
